Embedded in this 16" by 20" acrylic painting are subliminal images that suggest another world. Perhaps you can find enough of them to formulate the idea. In the next painting, Samohtra will attempt to capture the luminosity of the sun as it penetrates and impregnates the sunflower with light. Translucence in this painting is limited to a few areas perhaps to keep the mystery intact.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1058/559911935541423/1600/A%20061%20%28630%20x%20788%29.jpg"></a>The Bare Bodkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15870373751719895975noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4586798575955338274.post-57267958902080380142006-10-22T14:00:00.000-02:002006-10-30T11:51:18.987-02:00La Fleur du Soleil<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1058/559911935541423/1600/A%20065%20%28634%20x%20776%29.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1058/559911935541423/320/A%20065%20%28634%20x%20776%29.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Samohtra has always loved sunflowers , even before he became acquainted with Van Gogh's stunningly beautifull sunflower paintings. This painting attempts to capture its fading glory as it descends to the ground, pulled down by the ponderous weight of its head. Soon it will be crucified by the birds and squirrels that ravage and plunder for its many seeds. The acrylic painting on canvas measures 16" by 20", is the first in a series of paintings that attemt to reveal a passion for the flower of the sun.The Bare Bodkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15870373751719895975noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4586798575955338274.post-70491603370680724552006-10-16T00:58:00.000-02:002006-10-24T11:11:57.256-02:00El Kolupski Reconstitue<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1058/559911935541423/1600/A%20050%20%28720%20x%201080%29.1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1058/559911935541423/320/A%20050%20%28720%20x%201080%29.1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1058/559911935541423/1600/A%20045%20%28651%20x%20405%29.0.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1058/559911935541423/320/A%20045%20%28651%20x%20405%29.0.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>A dastardly deed! Part of the <a href="http://www.boxartstudio.com/">El Kolupsk</a> drawings have mysteriously disappeared! Turning Point Park near the <a href="http://www.boxartstudio.com/">Boxart Atelier</a> <span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span> has within it an enclave of solitude where Samohtra finds rest for his sometimes weary soul. Twists and turns often rise up unexpectedly in life. This is the first step of a painting called "Turning Point" that seeks to portray the warp and woof of that thing called life.<br />Simplify or die. The nature of creation is such that without the distillation of its incredible complexity, our message would but quickly fade into confusion and obscurity. A future post will show the completion of this painting. The Bare Bodkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15870373751719895975noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4586798575955338274.post-68659246426782168172006-09-14T22:43:00.000-02:002006-10-16T02:31:44.100-02:00Demonstration libre<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1058/559911935541423/1600/BLOG1%20%28843%20x%201073%29.0.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1058/559911935541423/320/BLOG1%20%28843%20x%201073%29.0.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1058/559911935541423/1600/A%20046%20%28983%20x%201291%29.2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1058/559911935541423/320/A%20046%20%28983%20x%201291%29.2.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /> The <a href="http://www.kolupski.com/"><span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"><span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Boxart</span></span> Atelier</a> generously provides a free<br />demonstration the first Saturday of every month to the public of an <a href="http://www.richardschmid.com/book.html#Hard"><span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"><span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">alla</span></span> <span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"><span onclick="BLOG_clickHandler(this)" class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">prima</span></span></a> portrait. Adrift, yet temporily held by triangles that bind him into time and space, Samohtra in a very real sense is caught between two conflicting worlds. One is visible and appears real, yet is finite and ever changing. The other is invisible, the realm of dreams and deeply felt yearnings, intangibles, the infinite source of which cannot be seen.</span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"> "Le voyage" began as a spontaneous splattering of fluid acrylic colors. A structure of triangles was laid upon the dry underpainting. Samohtra appears with a small rock hammer (shades of "</span><a style="font-family: georgia;" href="http://www.geocities.com/aaronbcaldwell/Shaw.html">The Shawshank Redemption</a><span style="font-family:arial;">"). Samohtra has been imprisioned for along time and is beginning to see the light of dawn. Silicia crystals were sprinkled upon a second layer of wet paint to create a luminous texture. The finished painting was sealed with matte medium and wooden supports were glued to the hardboard backside to allow for strip framing. The original painting measures !6" by 20".(copyright 2006)</span>The Bare Bodkinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15870373751719895975noreply@blogger.com0
